Description
On a sabbatical from his service as a police officer to finish his M.A. in Human Rights at the University College, London, IPS officer Balakrishnan found himself pondering how the present day Indian police compared with their British counterparts. Both forces had been born in London. What was their core philosophy and functioning style? How did they react to similar situations? What were their work conditions and professional challenges? How did the public perceive their actions? Drawing from his experiences as a visiting student as well as his years as a police officer, Balakrishnan asks and answers questions that give him an insight into policing in a shrinking world with expanding networks.

The title clearly explains that it is the travel story of a policeman. The author V.Balakrishnan wrote this book only on his personal experiences experienced in India and United Kingdom. He mainly told the comparision of both differences and similarities in the system, procedures, practices and business models between UK and India. The work and strategies followed by UK police is different from the Indian police but the concept of police in India was came from the British. There are totally 75 chapters in this book. Commonly each chapter had certain problem and also how that problem is handled and solved by UK police and Indian police. I realized that mental health is also much more important for every person. After reading this, I came to know most of the traffic rules and strategies followed in UK to discourage the drivers to control the air pollution in important cities. Finally, I can infer that UK is much better than India in controlling air pollution, traffic control system, policing etc. I didn’t tell India is not better. But the Indian system need improvement. All Indian people should come forward to initiate the activities to improve the system.
